The Role & Project
MACA is seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our team on a 4/3 Roster, supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems across our operations.
Reporting to the Project Manager, with support from the Regional HSEQ Superintendent, you will play a key role in supporting the Project Leadership Team to manage risk, maintain compliance and drive a strong HSEQ culture across site.
A key focus of this role will be maintaining a strong field presence, with approximately 50–60% of your time spent in the field engaging with workers, monitoring HSEQ controls and coaching and mentoring the Project Leadership Team.

Key areas of responsibility:
· Take a leadership role in promoting and complying with MACA’s HSEQ Management Plans and Strategic HSEQT Strategy.
· Support and facilitate HSEQ performance improvement across the project.
· Develop, maintain and regularly review project HSEQ Management Plans, including Health and Safety, Environmental, Emergency Management and Traffic Management Plans.
· Develop and maintain the Project Risk Register, ensuring risks and controls are regularly reviewed with management and workers and that controls are implemented, effective and understood.
· Conduct regular workplace audits and inspections, while coaching and mentoring Supervisors in effective audit and inspection practices.
· Analyse HSEQ data and produce internal and client-facing reports to identify trends, opportunities for improvement and project performance.
· Ensure accurate and timely information is maintained within MACA’s electronic Safety Management Systems, INX and Mitti (SafetyCulture)
· Support the development and delivery of HSEQ initiatives, toolbox talks and awareness training.
· Coordinate Project Health and Safety Committees and support Health and Safety Representatives in HSEQ activities.
· Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that add value to project HSEQ performance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar HSEQ role within the mining, construction or relevant heavy industry sector.
· Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety as a minimum, with a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety highly regarded.
· Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
· Sound knowledge of applicable State occupational health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
· Demonstrated experience in HSEQ auditing, inspections, incident investigations and delivering safety initiatives.
· Strong analytical, reporting and data visualisation skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
· Effective organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
· A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement and progressive learning.
· The ability to engage constructively and respectfully with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
· A self-motivated, enthusiastic and results-focused approach, with a pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset.
· Experience with INX, BI tools and Mitti (SafetyCulture) will be highly regarded.
